Astro City 19951996 #1 eBook Kurt Busiek Brent Anderson
Unique story & artwork, keeps you interested throughout the whole series and this first story kept us looking forward to more to come. We have read most of this series & think it is a very interesting look at the life of superhero; plus believe it is one of the finest comic book series ever written. My wife and I both loved the stories & artwork and have re-read this issue a few times, since we first read it. We cannot wait until our sons are old enough to enjoy this series; they have to grow up a little more to appreciate the full stories, since this book does have adult content & a M-Mature 17 or older rating.
The artwork of this issue also looked great on our Kindle, the colors were bright and the art looked sharp. Text could always be a little bigger, but you can zoom in to fix that if you need. The length of the issue is normal size for a comic book.
Pros:
Perfect first issue of a must read superhero series
Great story, artwork & cover-art
Series is fun to read as a separate stories, but you must start with this issue
Interested story line for adults
& Looked great on our Kindle
Cons:
Parts of the text could be larger
Overall, we love the first part of this comic book series and would recommend it to anyone looking for a unique story in a great series; that we believe is a must read for comic fans, especially if you are interested in the 24/7 life of a superhero.

Astro City 19951996 #1 eBook Kurt Busiek Brent Anderson Reviews
This actually was not what I expected. If you didn't grow up reading comic books, it might be better if you skip this particular book. It wasn't written in the graphic novel style, but yet it wasn't written, to me, as a normal comic book either.
Reading Astro City is like going to see Phantom of the Opera, one of the most popular and famous musicals in the world- the show "EVERYONE has to see" You're either one of those who've seen it or one of those who haven't. If you've read Astro City, even if you don't read COMIC BOOKS on a regular basis, you truly understand what it means to be a hero- 24/7. You know what it's like to live with superheroes in our world if they actually existed. This book is brilliant and beautiful. Even if the idea of reading a funny book is repulsive to you, try AC. Just one issue. If you never read another comic again, I guarantee you still will never forget what you read and the feelings it evoked inside your heart.
This comic was a refreshing read. Many times (more now than ever [2015]) writers have tried to rush-write a story and it always felt cheap & lazy, but this one left you with the feeling of what the protagonists was feeling. I loved it.
How tired and hackneyed is the whiny superhero who pines for a normal life? Note to writers very. What I adore about this graphic novel is how they elucidate Samaritan's desires for a level of normalcy, peace and companionship and how that is in direct opposition to his calling as a hero. There's also the sense of simple joy he only gets to experience at a very specific time, in being superpowered. There's a loneliness and a nobility in the character, all done with just great writing. Love, love, love this title.
To anyone who is ever interested in comic books, this is one of many fine examples to start. Astro City is an amazing story that explores many superheroes, super-villains, and ordinary citizens living in the big city. Astro City continues to thrive after 20 years. If you want to start from the beginning, this is where it all started.
Astro City #1 is a perfect way to kick off one of the finest comic book series ever. The perspective, the story, the artwork, all stand out against a sea of superhero comics. Astro City is a series that you can really jump into with any of the trade paperback collections, but if you want to start right at the beginning with a self-contained story in a single issue. This is where to begin.
A free digital comic for the ? ASTRO CITY #1 delivers the kind of stunningly great work that a great book that became a series deserves, and as a freebie, what a perfect place to start.
In a city that resembles many comic book cities, super heroes, heroines and.cunning villains have great stories to tell. Eisner would have adored it, and you will, too.
Working together to creat and lay out these tales that in no small way seem very familiar, Ross, Busiek and Anderson jamed on creating the look and feel of what great comic book heroes should be. The series won lots of praise, and awards to boot. Each issue is capsulated as a one-issue story but within a larger arc, so you can skip around, but start...here.
Good eyes may spot a similar pose used by Ross in SUPERMAN PEACE ON EARTH and why not? In this issue, a hero faces a mixed bag of dealing and coping with the general populace. Sinking into a chair, he is tired and down, but... well, you'll have to read it.
Superb series!!!
